Who We Are
The Meigs County Board of Developmental Disabilities provides lifelong services to persons with developmental disabilities in Meigs County, Ohio. We provide high quality services for eligible individuals from birth and throughout their life span.

Mission Statement
To ensure the availability of services and supports to assist eligible individuals in choosing and achieving a life of increasing capability such that they can live, work, and play in the community and to assist and support the families of these individuals in achieving this objective.

Ensuring Services in Most Integrated Setting Appropriate
People served and their families will experience seamless transitions from one life stage to the next and move through these stages in the most integrated setting appropriate.
- Early Intervention to Preschool – Assist families in determining appropriate services for their child; link to SSA
- Preschool to School Age – Assist families in determining appropriate services for their child; link to SSA
- Transition Aged Youth – Annual parent meeting with OOD to discuss services and the benefits of working
- School Age to Adulthood – Parent training regarding emancipation at eighteen; guardianship; linkage to adult opportunities and services by SSA
- Adults to Senior Citizens – Linkage to services available to senior citizens
Promoting Self-Advocacy through Person Centered Planning Process, Activities, and Community Connections
People with developmental disabilities, their families, and MCBDD and provider staff will be empowered to reimagine, strengthen, and modernize supports. People with developmental disabilities and their families will have increased access to technology and advocacy opportunities. MCBDD and provider staff will have the support, skills, technology and training that promote engagement, confidence and competence.
- Strengthen Technology First approach with all individuals on waivers to ensure access to technology is considered to increase independence and/or inclusion
- Host a technology event for individuals, MCBDD and providers who learn about new technologies
- Encourage Transition Aged Youth and adults who participate in advocacy meetings and activities
- Continue to grow internet based and/or social media footprint of MCBDD
Reducing Individuals Waiting for Services
Eligibility for services will be determined within state guidelines. When determined eligible, individuals will work with SSA to access services through the team process; linking to agencies and providers to maximize funding and access to services.
Increase Number of Individuals in Community Employment
- Continue collaboration with OOD for employment services
- Provide Summer Youth employment opportunities to age eligible students
- Explore transportation options and funding sources for individual seeking community employment
Provider Recruitment/Retention
- Utilize social media to recruit providers
- Assist providers with the certification process
- Pay for initial Delegated Medication Pass training for Independent Providers
- Meet with new independent providers within 60 days of being selected to provide services
- Increase participation in provider meetings and training
Long-Term Sustainability of High-Quality Support
The MCBDD will promote sustainable, high-quality support, including streamlining internal processes, investing in skilled staff, and ensuring fiscal health and responsibility.
- Collaborate with regional and state partners to maximize resources and programming innovations
- Expand on capabilities available through Brittco to streamline processes
- Review 5 year forecast twice a year at board meetings
- Provide high quality professional development, to include providers as appropriate
Public Input On Use of Federal Funds
Public comments are solicited on the proposed programs and budgets for the expenditure of Federal funds including IDEA-B-Special Education, ARP IDEA Part B Special Education, IDEA Early Childhood Special Education, ARP IDEA Early Childhood Special Education and Early Childhood Education. These Federal dollars are used to provide services, staffing, equipment and materials. This public input is solicited on an annual basis and used in the development of the district Consolidated Continuous Improvement Plan. (CCIP)
